The park supports pollinators such as butterflies and dragonflies. Below you’ll find information about plants you can grown here on the Sunshine Coast to support local species, when to look for certain species, and which species frequent the Sunshine Coast.

Butterflies

  2. This document summarizes Flight periods of known butterfly species found on the Lower Sunshine Coast (PDF).
  3. Tony Greenfield and Rand Rudland produced this concise 4-fold field Guide to the known Sunshine Coast butterflies, to be reprinted as below to include the three new species identified since initial publication. This field guide is available from the Earth Fare Store in Madeira Park and at Talewind Books in Sechelt as a fundraiser for the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and the Sargeant Bay Society.  Overleaf in the original paper version continues the species accounts.

Dragonflies

  1. Rand Rudland produced this concise 4-fold field guide to the Known Sunshine Coast dragonflies and damselflies, to be updated to include the four new species identified since initial publication.  Available from the Earth Fare Store in Madeira Park and Talewind Books in Sechelt as a fundraiser for the Sunshine Coast Natural History Society and the Sargeant Bay Society.  Overleaf in the original paper version continues with the damselflies and the species accounts.
