The Sargeant Bay Society has joined with 34 other organizations in signing a letter to Prime Minister Mark Carney, asking for immediate action to fund and implement the 2030 Nature Strategy. This letter was prepared after it was noted that the most recent federal budget does not fund the strategy.
Canada’s 2030 Nature Strategy was launched in June 2024. It is a comprehensive plan to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, aligning with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework. It focuses on protecting 30% of land and water by 2030 (“30×30”), restoring ecosystems, species recovery, and strengthening Indigenous-led conservation.
